Let’s have a conversation.  I believe we all want to be happy and healthy; all we need is the knowledge, tools, and support to make it happen.  What are your goals?  Lose weight, feel good, have more energy, sleep better, drink more water, eat more real food? What do you need to make it happen? An outline, a plan, support, motivation, inspiration, knowledge?  Health coaching can supply these things for you.

“We want to be well. We yearn to be in control and feel better. We want more energy,” says Margaret Moore, founder of Well Coaches. “But there is an enormous gap between wanting to be well and the everyday reality of living with the mental and physical health penalties of overeating, underexercising, and having too little down time.”

That gap is growing. The CDC reports that more than 66% of adult Americans are overweight or obese. Worse still, about a third of the adult population is obese. This epidemic has spread even to our children, who are suffering at younger and younger ages from chronic diseases like diabetes, heart problems, joint problems, and of course obesity.

Do you want to be well? Do you want to have more energy every day, do you want to sleep better at night, do you want to look in the mirror and smile? Does your job and life feel less than fulfilling, do you wish you had closer friendships, are you constantly stressed and running at full-speed-ahead?

Are you tired of analyzing calories, carbohydrates, fat percentages, vitamin content? Do you wish you could learn quick and easy ways to make healthful food that don’t take a ton of time or a ton of money? Do you feel that there must be a better way, an intuitive way, to live in happiness and harmony and to regain and maintain your maximum overall health?

Good news, there is a better way! You may just need a cheerleader, a source of information and support, an advocate and ally.  You may need clarity, a process to identify true goals and priorities, and eliminate road blocks to achieving them.  You may need a health coach.

What is a health coach?

A Health Coach is a knowledgeable wellness authority and supportive mentor who motivates individuals to feel and be their best by cultivating positive health choices and behaviors.

Health Coaches empower their clients through education, and support clients to achieve their health goals through small and manageable lifestyle and behavior adjustments. Instead of prescribing one diet or exercise program to everyone, Health Coaches tailor all-inclusive individualized wellness programs to meet their clients’ needs.

Integrative Health Coaching (IHC) empowers you to make lasting healthy behavior changes that are the cornerstones of lifelong well-being. Health Coaches often offer services and fill gaps that doctors, nutritionists, and dietitians don’t have the time or resources to fill. It bridges the gap between medical recommendations, and your ability to successfully integrate those behaviors into your complex life.

A Health Coach will help you implement small changes, little by little, at a pace that’s comfortable for you so you can meet all your health goals. As a Health Coach, I will work with you to help you discover your bio-individuality. There is always something that will work for you – the trick is experimenting until we find it.

It’s also important to know what a health coach is not. A health coach is not a doctor. Health coaches don’t diagnose, prevent, or treat any medical conditions, prescribe medications, or recommend dose changes or the discontinuation of your current medications. Most health coaches are not personal trainers (although some are certified in personal training). A health coach is not a drill sergeant. I will not bark orders at you, wake you at 5am to run laps, or berate you for not meeting goal in a specified amount of time.

I understand that life happens, and will work with you and support you in every way I can to achieve your optimal wellness.

Who health coaching is not for

Health coaching is not for you if:

  • You don’t want to change
  • You believe “I’m too old to change”
  • You believe “I’m too set in my ways to change”
  • You have a severe or life-threatening health condition (such as cancer, kidney failure, dementia, heart failure)
  • You are not willing to invest in your health
  • You are perfectly happy with everything in your life

Who is health coaching for?

Those who will experience the greatest benefits from health coaching are people who truly desire to change, and perhaps don’t know how or what to do, or require some guidance and/or motivation to make changes and healthy choices.

Health coaching may be for you if:

  • You are tired of yo-yo dieting
  • You want lasting changes in your life
  • You want to feel motivated and energized
  • You want to heal from poor nutrition
  • You want to eat delicious, healthy foods
  • You want to manage and reduce stress in your life
  • You want to incorporate healthy behaviors into your life
  • You want to find a movement plan that fits and feels right
  • You know you can be your best and want help getting there

I began pursing a certification and career in health coaching because I can see the slow dissolution of healthy living with our current frenetic pace of society.
